Guadagnino is known for stylish visuals, including those in "I Am Love," (2010) a family drama set in Milan that also starred Ms. "We wanted him to be some boisterous, bigger than life, the-party-will-never- end British musical type," Mr. Fiennes dances with comic abandon to the Rolling Stones’ "Emotional Rescue," a song the fictional Harry produced. As their encounters grow fraught, "Marianne is in the position of not being able to fire back with words, and has to choose carefully when to speak and why." A mum Marianne also becomes a counterpoint to Harry, who never stops talking and whose outsized energy makes him the center of attention.

Anthony had to endure an abusive, unemployed, alcoholic father but was blessed with a nurturing, hard-working mother. Set in both the late 80's and current day, "Back in the Day" is a gritty tale about Anthony Rodriguez, a half Italian - half Puerto Rican young teenager growing up on the streets of Bensonhurst, Brooklyn a then very dangerous and racist neighborhood filled with bullies, big shots and social clubs where all of the neighborhood shots were called.
